Individual Therapy
Are you feeling stuck? Do you have difficulties coping with life's many changes or demands? Is depression clouding your perspective? Is anxiety overwhelming you?
I work very effectively with individuals facing life transitions such as starting college, the challenges of growing independent from the family relationship break-ups, marriage, remarriage and divorce. My work with adults also includes nurturing and developing self-esteem, reducing depression and anxiety symptoms and self-destructive thinking and behavior.
I also specialize in women's issues (i.e. premenstrual, maternity, pregnancy, postpartum, menopause). Studies have found that women are twice more likely to suffer from depression than men. It has also been discovered that women’s reproductive hormones can affect their emotional well-being and mental health.
Likewise, I have worked extensively with people dealing with the challenges and struggles associated to migration and acculturation. Immigration from one country to another is a complex psychological process that challenges identity, self-esteem and mental health. Changes such as a lack of contact with relatives, learning a new language, new rules and values might interfere with your every day life. This experience could be overwhelming and paralyzing. I understand first-hand what you are going through.
We will explore your thoughts, beliefs, feelings, and choices and identify obstacles that may be getting in your way. I would like to help you to understand your challenges and build on your strengths. Call me to schedule a consultation.
